A basic tenet of House of Mercy’s approach to working with people is the belief that everyone has the ability to dramatically change their lives provided they have access to the necessary resources, support, and encouragement needed to make the desired changes. We recognize that most folks who seek assistance from us do so with apprehension, reluctance and skepticism. In recognition of this reality, we strive to provide everyone served with a non-judgmental, warm, welcoming environment where they feel valued, safe, and hopeful. It is our goal to remove all of the barriers a person experiences to gaining access to assistance (e.g., housing, transportation, finances, child care, absence of medical/mental health coverage, etc.) except the one obstacle that only the client controls—his/her desire and motivation to change.
